Challenge rules - EyeCandy's Sammy

Let the games begin!

So, you've seen the canvas for the challenge.  Now it's time to unveil the rules.

The challenge masters for this challenge are myself (Ruth Schmuff) and the designer Ada Haydon of EyeCandy Needleart. We must each select 3 threads and 3 stitches for you to use.

I am challenging you to use a silk ribbon (any color, any size)

a Kreinik metallic of any size in color 044 Confetti Blue

and Caron Watercolors 041 Blueberry.

You may use these threads anywhere you wish.

For the stitches, I challenge you to use Van Dyke

a wrapped or woven stitch

and a composite stitch.  (Any stitch that is made up of at least 2 different parts and threads.)

Ada is soooo clever.  For threads she has requested that you use any Rainbow Gallery FyreWerks (soft sheen, hologram etc.)  It is after all a 4th of July canvas so should have fireworks.

Additionally you must use any strongly variegated overdyed thread, the more colors the better— think along the lines of her signature color, Ada’s Rainbow by Gloriana.

And finally, your choice of any color of Sea Grass from Thread Gatherer

For stitches, she requests you use the following

Any variation of Byzantine stitch

Criss Cross Hungarian or any variation thereof, mix it with whatever you choose, beads, metallics, etc.

Jessica stitches, any variation or shape/size.

Have fun and stitch a happy black cat to help you enjoy many july 4ths to come!  Let the games begin!

Beading's for the eyes and watermelon. Hope to be able to start tomorrow evening. Organizing things tonight, class with Sharon G tomorrow in NJ and hopefully some gardening; if not, Sunday will be sunny so could be a good start. Besides, Sunday is Counted Canvas Day, so who knows

Now, THAT'S a beach towel! The kid may like his Transformers, sharks & superheroes, but I like old-school - bright (dare I say loud) colors, vivid geometrics & stripes.
Can't wait to see the beading.

This little book has awesome backgrounds and pretty easy to do. I am using another one for a Thanksgiving cracker right now.

you can find it here if you want to

Palma, what was the name of that background book you had on the retreat?

Good eyes, Ada. I have 2 starfishes and 2 shells - one for each corner.

As for finishing tonight, probably not but will do my best for the weekend. Have to bead his eyes and the watermelon and also stitch Sammy himself (if Midnight will allow me)

Go Palma go, I see a finish in sight!! LOVE the towel, it is great. Do you have more cute buttons you are planning on adding to the corners by any chance? :)
