The Princess has several of these BABW puppies. But this one is the lucky one using her new dolly quilt.
The fabric line is Apple Jack by Moda. I actually don't like the prints in this line much, but many of the colors are good. And after a while, you learn that if you chop up fabrics in small enough bits, the patterns aren't so annoying. :) Anyhow, the four patches are 1.5 inches square.

Comment by K.B. on January 28, 2013 at 6:54am Judy, you're right. A truly mini quilt (not to be confused with a small quilt) is a lot of work. But I confess that I cheated a bit. Rather than cut the small squares to 1.25 inches before piecing, I started with 2.5 inch squares. I seamed both the right and left sides and then cut that sandwich in half. Then I opened them and aligned the fabrics so that they opposed (red to blue, blue to red) and sewed left and right seams again. Then the next time they get sliced in half, they come out as four patches. Basically it is the same amount to work, but the pieces are easier to handle and therefore less likely to be distorted.
She does like it. It just so happened that my mother finished knitting a blanket for the doll bed and brought it over yesterday. So the Princess has lots of choices for her babies now.
